Abolon[1] attended the Healers' Collegium for five years, and was consistently in the top of his class. Unfortunately, he didn't have the right temperament to be a Healer, and so he was denied the job. Instead he turned to the life of a con man, masquerading as a Healer in remote villages.

His scam was to begin by treating people with his (accurate) knowledge, such as quarantining the sick. Then we would explain how he had a limited amount of a rare herb called All-heal, that magnified the normal effect of a healing potion. Once his limited supply ran out, he would ask the villagers to contribute every penny they could to acquiring a new supply, which he would be happy to secure for them in Haven. Then he simply left with the money.

Abolon's scam worked fairly well until he tried it on the village of Evenleigh. After he left, Selaine discovered the truth and used her Fetching Gift to keep him from getting too far. He was captured soon after by the local circuit Herald, Garaval. After ascertaining the full story under Truth Spell, Garaval returned him to Haven to face justice.

Abolon is described as someone who "must once have been a very good-looking man. The years had weathered his face, but his voice, gentle and low, would have gained him a fortune as a Bard... His clothing spoke of past prosperity... The man himself looked to be on the down-side of middle age, graying hair, colored an unlikely rust color..."[2]
