Lady Ceraratha, or Cera as she prefers, is the daughter of a Rethwellan wool merchant. She was married to the abusive Lord Sinmonkelrath, who was killed in the assassination attempt[1] on Queen Selenay. In the wake of the attempt, Selenay took Cera's fealty oath and granted her Sandbriar, a war-weary holding in southern Valdemar which had originally been allotted to her late, unlamented husband.
When Cera arrived in Sandbriar, she found a land and people in trouble, drained by the Tedrel Wars. She used her connections as the daughter of a prominent merchant, as well as her wide range of knowledge and experience, especially where sheep and fibers are concerned, to set Sandbriar back on its feet.
