Crescent Lake is south of the red dot indicating the village of Three Rivers.
Crescent Lake in Valdemar is located south of the town of Three Rivers, south of Haven, off the Terilee River.
It was used to Gate barges containing all of the possessions, livestock and citizens of the Duchy of Valdemar when they escaped from the Eastern Empire under the leadership of Duke Kordas Valdemar.
The site was reached by the Duchy's Explorer Mage Jonaton via a magical connection. It is well-known that in ancient history, the legendary Cataclysm of the Mage Wars created Changecircles. A tree near Crescent Lake was partly caught in a changecircle, and that portion of it had been transposed to the Eastern Empire. Jonaton had stolen a piece of the tree in the Empire, and was inspired to connect a Gate from the piece back to its' original tree.
Explorer Ivar went through the Gate to see if there was a nearby body of water suitable for the escape from the Empire. Crescent Lake was perfect, since it would allow them to create a water gate to easily send the packed barges.
He discovered existing ruins of a previous settlement, including a dock and even some sunken boats. Small active settlements were encountered near the lake, too.

At some point, the "People of the One" had settled around Crescent Lake. Centuries later, Vanyel learned about them in his Religions class.[1]
In the reign of Queen Selenay, the collegium cook Mero is from the nearby Three Rivers area, and is part of a group that follows a monotheistic religion centered on the Book of One.[2]
