Dia was one of Lydia's closest girlhood friends, part of the group who helped Nikolas monitor the younger crowd in the Court and Collegia.
Shortly after Lydia married Prince Sedric, Dia made what was considered a 'brilliant match', and married Jorthun, Duke of Ayersmark. However, unlike most of the wealthy and highborn ladies, Dia was able to marry for love.
From her new position high in noble circles, Dia became central to Mags' and Amily’s spy network. She fostered highborn young ladies, "excess" or "inconvenient" nieces and cousins who might otherwise have been sent to temples or otherwise tucked away in the country. She trained them in many noble schools, while her husband trained them in spycraft. The Queen's Handmaidens, as they were known, were highly sought after for ladies companions among the nobility, giving Mags and Amily spies everywhere.
Dia was also a passionate breeder of dogs, producing everything from muff hounds to poison smellers to guard hounds. With Amily’s unique Gift allowing her to mentally 'ride along' with an animal, Dia's dogs also often became part of the spy network.
As an adolescent Dia was described as "round" with "deep brown eyes".[1] After her marriage she was described as having "matured into a gorgeous woman."[2]
