Chronology (Warning! SPOILERS!)[]
The miniseries takes place any time after the end of the Tedrel Wars in 1376 AF and before Solaris ended Karse's persecution of the Gifted in 1404 AF.
The first story mentions that the Karsite Alberich became a Herald, which occurred in 1373 AF. Because Karse has not ended persecution of the Gifted, the story takes place before 1404 AF. Story 2 occurs a week or two later. Riann is headed for the Valdemar/Karse border, an unlikely destination if the border was plagued by the violent Tedrel Wars, between 1373 AF and 1376 AF. So this story happens during Selenay's reign, which began in 1376 AF. Affirming the end date limitation, Riann feels like she's being watched, and Darl explains it's Valdemar's "little" magic (the Web-Spell and its' vrondi), watching for magic. So it is before 1405 AF, when the Web-Spell was removed. A tricky point is that little Gnarl was the victim of a Changecircle. It can't be from the modern Mage Storms, which occurred well after 1405 AF. So it must have been an old Changecircle created by the original Mage Storms directly after the Cataclysm. Story 3 occurs two days after story 2.
