Companion to Weaponsmaster Alberich, Kantor has a heavier build than other Companions, more like a warhorse. He says, ":I am a warrior, Companion to a warrior.:"[1] He once claimed not having any sense of humor.
Before Alberich was Chosen, and still in the Karsite Army, he was given a white warhorse named Silver. This was Kantor in "disguise".
When Alberich's Gift of Foresight was discovered, and he was about to be burned to death by his own troops, Kantor braved the flames to rescue him.
Kantor serves Alberich by supplying information that any new Herald would need, but even more that a wary Karsite would need when transplanted to Valdemar, which he was raised to believe was a land of witchcraft and demons. As with any Companion-Herald relationship, theirs grew and deepened into abiding trust.
