Father Kentroch was the village priest of Alberich's hometown in Karse when he was a child. He described him as "a crusty old man... whose speech was as blunt as his common sense was good." He also had "a short temper and curmudgeonly demeanor."[1] Despite this, the village held him in high regard and protested an attempt to replace him with a younger priest. The church abandoned the attempt after provoking such unanimous outrage.
The priest defended Alberich and his mother from the torment and abuse of the villagers. He took young Alberich under his wing, and instilled in him the values of duty, honor, and devotion to the Sunlord.
