Kili was the leader of Ma'ar's makaar, making him the equivalent to Skandranon. Like the Black Gryphon, Kili was a wily creature. He nearly trapped Skandranon more than once in their aerial dogfights, and the two considered themselves to be personal enemies.
Kili is described as having a white and black crest, which makes him easy to spot among other makaar in the air. Being one of the older breeds of makaar made him more difficult to kill, as he was less fragile. However, this was no help against Zhaneel, who fought in the air with fingers and sharp metal shears, rather than claws. When they faced off, she cut off both his wings, leaving him to plummet to his death.
