Kiril was king of Valdemar around 850 AF. He built the Heralds' Collegium, which replaced the old mentor-trainee approach with standardized classes and a supervised internship. He was obliged to provide new buildings to replace the aging Bardic and Healers' Collegia as well.[1]

When the Sleepgiver called "Temper" tried to burn down the Companions' stable, with all the Companions trapped inside, Herald-Trainee Mags stopped him, incurring grave wounds. Answering Mags' mindcall, Kiril arrived in time to staunch the bleeding and save Mags' life, fulfilling the Foreseers' vision in an unexpected way.[2]

Kiril abdicated the throne in favor of his son Sedric after his fourth grandchild, Kyril "Kee" was born.[3]

He has black hair and silver eyes.[4] His original King's Own Herald, Nikolas, was one of his closest friends. People erroneously assume that the game Kirball is named after him, but it's actually named for its' creator, Herald Kiri.
