Lydia was the niece of Guildmaster Soren, and one of King's Own Herald Amily's closest childhood friends.
As a child and young woman, she kept an eye on the children of other nobles, reporting any issues to her uncle, who then passed them on to Amily's father, King's Own Herald Nikolas.
She met Herald Mags when Master Soren brought him home for his Midwinter celebration. She then introduced Mags to Amily, his future wife. She also taught Mags how to evaluate clothing, and therefore, some of the character traits and the relative prosperity of the person wearing it.
She married the Heir, Prince Sedric. She gave birth to three children, and after the fourth was born King Kiril decided that he would abdicate the following year. He retired Sedric was crowned, and although she was not a Herald, Lydia became his Queen. She bore at least two more children.
She was described as "a sweet-faced girl with a tumble of intensely red curls."[1]
