Chronology[]
The story occurs in Midwinter, at least 9 months after the last Mage Storm. Prior events:
- Mother Evanari's best sow escapes
- A Changecircle appears in the forest border of Valleywood . It is a shallow bowl of saltwater with living things in it
- The final Mage Storm occurs
- The Changecircle water dries up, leaving dead things and a salt residue
- Spring A windstorm topples trees into the bowl of the Changecircle
- Midwinter Giant sow eats Milly's lamb
