Lord Sinmonkelrath was the second son of Lord Thelkenpothonar of Rethwellan. He was not particularly close to his older brother, or any of the rest of his family. When Prince Karathanelan married Queen Selenay of Valdemar,[1] Sinmonkelrath was one of the Prince's followers who relocated to Haven.[2]
Sinmonkelrath was married to Ceraratha, the daughter of a wealthy wool merchant. He was an abusive husband, beating her whenever she displeased him. In Valdemar, he kept her isolated in their palace suite, working on embroidering fancy clothing for him to wear to court. He was deeded the lands at Sandbriar, the land's noble family having perished in the Tedrel Wars. He never visited his lands, but demanded outrageous sums from the steward in order to keep him in fine clothing and expensive drink.
Lord Sinmonkelrath was part of the group who attempted to assassinate Queen Selenay and was cut down by Alberich and his men.[2] After his death in the "hunting accident," his widow, Lady Cera, swore fealty to Selenay and took up residence at Sandbriar.
