In Winds of Fate, Chapter 8, Darkwind uses some weeds as an insect repellent "to enhance his race’s natural resistance to insects." I was going to add this here, but would the Tayledras and Shin'a'in be considered separately evolved "races" in only 2000-2500 years time? Rather than all being Kaled'a'in? I guess it could be postulated that they used magic to change themselves as a race to better suit their environment ... but that's some crazy urtho-level magic that I doubt humans would risk.
