Chronology[]
The story is set a few years after the events of Magic's Pawn. Vanyel is only just beginning to gain a reputation as a powerful Herald-Mage.
In the course of the story, Vanyel also realizes he has survived the initial phase of grief over Tylendel, and begins to accept that he needs to live his life.
